Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

middlesbrough-moving-forwardDOGS and their owners are invited to join a local dog club for a day of four-legged fun on Saturday, May 21

Middlesbrough and District Dog Training Association, the only Kennel Club registered training club in the town, are hosting a Doggy Fun Day at Hemlington Recreation Centre fields, off Cass House Road, Hemlington, TS8 9QW with something to tempt all dogs and their owners.

The day will feature a Fun Dog Show with rosettes and prizes up for grabs in 12 classes with categories including Waggiest Tail, the Loveliest Lady, Most fabulous Fella, and Best Child Handler, with entries at £1 per class

The activities are open to pooches of all shapes and sizes, pedigree and non-pedigree of any age and will run from 11am to 4pm, with registration for classes from 10am. Dog owners can come along on the day and simply enter as many classes as they wish. Dogs must be on a lead.

This will all run alongside a ‘Have a Go’ rings for Agility, Flyball and a Competitive Obedience, together with stalls and refreshments, with Star Wars characters adding to the entertainment.

This year the club is raising funds for Smokey Paws who raise money to donate breathing apparatus for pet animals caught in fires to the Fire Brigade.

Club Chairperson Beryl McDonald said: “We’re delighted to be holding another fun show following the success of similar events over previous years.

“There really should be something to appeal to all dogs and their owners.”

Head Trainer Jody Cashmore added: “We continue to offer our weekly pet training classes at St Chad’s Church Hall on Monday evenings, but also really enjoy running one-off fun events such as this.

“This year we’re promoting a very worthy cause that will give animals the best chance of survival if caught in a house fire.”
