England Level It Up At Hove

Centuries from Tammy Beaumont and Sarah Taylor took England to a 69-run victory over South Africa at Hove to level up the Royal London ODI series at 1-1.

England were asked to bat first by South Africa captain Dane van Niekerk and they seemed determined to make up for their performance with the bat at Worcester.

Beaumont (101) and Taylor (118) were the mainstays of the innings, and cameos from Heather Knight, Danni Wyatt and Katherine Brunt took them to an imposing 331/6.

South Africa did not wilt as they attempted to chase the total down, and Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt combined to get a few nerves jangling.

Lee hit a brilliant hundred – and Chloe Tryon a fighting 44 from just 26 balls – but England took wickets at regular enough intervals to come out on top.

It leaves the series brilliantly poised with one game to come, at Canterbury on Friday.
