DINERS will enjoy the luck of the Irish next month as one of the North East’s top hotels raises a glass to St Patrick.
On Friday, 18 March, Lumley Castle Hotel, Chester-le-Street, will be hosting a special banquet, with live entertainment, in honour of Ireland’s patron saint.
Diners will be served a four-course banquet of traditional Irish dishes with wine and mead, along with a dram of whisky with which to toast the occasion.
During dinner, entertainment will be provided by the Lords and Ladies of the Court and a display of Irish dancing by World Champion Irish Dancers from the Durham-based Inchigeelagh O’Gorman Academy of Irish Dance.
The meal will begin with vegetable broth, followed by colcannon; a traditional Irish dish of cabbage and mashed potatoes.
The main course will be chicken with bacon and cabbage – or stir fried vegetables in black bean sauce with a timbale of rice – and the meal will be rounded off with apple crumble before revellers take to the dance floor for a disco.
Those wishing to extend the evening with an overnight stay can enjoy a banquet, bed and breakfast deal for £99 per person, based on two people sharing a standard double Courtyard Bedroom.
The Dungeon Bar opens at 7pm with the banquet starting at 8pm. The evening will end at 1am and there is a minimum age restriction of 16 years.
Tickets for the event cost £41.50 each and can be booked by calling 0191 389 1111, emailing reservations@lumleycastle.com or visiting www.lumleycastle.com.
