Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Expansion and New Office for Construction PR Consultancy

Owner and Director Ruth Shepherd founded the business, which specialises in PR and marketing, bid writing and stakeholder engagement for the construction sector, in 2008 after working for housing providers and construction companies following a journalism career.

Previously a home-based business, the firm is looking to 2016 as the year of growth and further development, having already built up a client list spanning the North East region and nationally.

“I started the business in the recession and people thought I was mad but I knew it was the right decision at the right time – and that I had the right offer for clients.

“Being able to run my own business doing what I love is a dream, but it’s more about providing a bespoke, responsive and flexible service to ensure that our clients and projects are talking to the right people and audiences, using the correct language, in a consistent manner – it’s about ensuring the built environment sector is engaging and is engaged.

“We’ve built up a fantastic client base across the UK with relationships from our earliest days, and I love that no two days are the same and sometimes you never know what the day or project will bring – despite best intentions! Helping clients deliver their projects by providing robust communications services gives me a huge sense of satisfaction and seeing projects complete and handed over is just the icing on the cake.”

The last eight years has proved to be continually busy, and it is this which has prompted the office move.

Current and past projects include the management of stakeholder and community engagement for a 1,200 unit masterplan site in Cheshire, the pre- and post-construction engagement with a North East housing provider’s customers, the community consultation for development proposals for The Ropery in Hexham, writing the bid to secure £6.77 million for a housing provider client as well as the marketing and PR campaigns for architects, planning consultants and IT providers to the sector.

The relocation marks the start of a number of business development plans, including taking on a trainee to assist with the workload.
