THE Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Ian Dalgarno and Mayor of Thornaby-on-Tees, Steve Walmsley came together to congratulate learners who have successfully completed a range of qualifications.
The parents and carers who have all taken courses at High Flyers Children’s Centre in Thornaby were presented with their end of course certificates and a gift by both Mayors and Mayoresses.
The Children’s Centre on Tedder Avenue provides a variety of learning opportunities ranging from accredited learning such as maths and English qualifications to non-accredited learning such as ‘cooking on a budget’ or ‘123 Magic’, an evidence-based parenting programme. The centre also works in partnership with health organisations and provides a tailored outreach package to meet the needs of local families.
Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Ian Dalgarno, said: “I’m delighted to see all those who have boosted their skills, by taking these courses, graduate in style. They have worked so hard to improve their chances of employment or enhance their parenting skills. I’d encourage anyone interested in doing something similar to come to High Flyers Children’s Centre and find out more.”
Mayor of Thornaby-on-Tees, Thornaby Town Councillor Steve Walmsley, said: “It was so good to see families come together and celebrate their achievements. Parents, children and staff made the day so special and they should all feel immensely proud. At a period in time of hardship for so many, the event at High Flyers was a first class example of community spirit, love and devotion drawn together by caring staff of the highest calibre. All involved are truly deserving of the highest praise for treating us all to a perfect day.”
High Flyers Children’s Centre is run by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.
