Fantastic new season of events coming To Bishop Auckland Town Hall

203Bishop Auckland Town Hall will be host to a variety of events for all the family across the summer including heart-warming plays, hilarious stand up and fantastic films.

This great summer of entertainment will begin with The Debt Collectors on Friday 6 May. From the author of such hits as Bouncers and Up ‘N’ Under, John Godber, The Debt Collectors sees two out of work actors head into the risky world of debt recovery.

The theatre performances continue on Monday 23 May with Dust of the Street’s Shining. This performance, told in a ranging monologue, is Alice Through The Looking Glass and Dorothy in Oz mixed together in one rainy evening on a Northern high street.

And on Wednesday 1 June, Bishop Auckland Town Hall will host its first ever ‘Pay What You Decide’ performance, Made Up – a story about an actress cracking under the pressure of being in front of the camera and the celebrity that accompanies her success. Meanwhile her make-up artist is also feeling the pressure with her own problems. People wanting to attend this show will have to book their tickets in advance and then pay what they decide after the show.

Stand up also returns to the Town Hall as in demand comic Eddy Brimson performs on Friday 15 April. Other comics coming to the town hall including Duncan Oakley who has been featured on BBC Four’s Shappi Talks (Friday 20 May), and star of BBC’s It’s A Fair Cop Alfie Moore on Friday 17 June.

Not one, but two Edinburgh preview shows will be a part of Hilarity Bites on Friday 22 July as Rob Rouse, who has been seen on 8 Out Of 10 Cats as well as Celebrity Juice, and Silky, who has performed with the likes of John Bishop and Lee Mack, stop off in Bishop before heading to the Fringe.

 

The Town Hall’s weekly film screenings will include Oscar winners as well as some family favourites kicking off with Oscar nominated Brooklyn (Thursday 7 April). Following that, the venue will also be screening critically acclaimed films including Bridge of Spies (Thursday 9 June), The Danish Girl (Thursday 23 June) and The Revenant (Thursday 18 August).

The Town Hall will also be showing box office smashes Spectre (Thursday 12 May) and Start Wars: The Force Awakens (Thursday 28 July). The kids will also be more than entertained with the screenings of Minions, Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur.
