Festive Changes to Waste and Recycling Collections

logo-landscapeRESIDENTS across Stockton-on-Tees Borough are being reminded of changes that will affect their waste and recycling collections over the Christmas and New Year period.

All collections scheduled for Friday 25 December will be made on Monday 28 December. Collections set for Friday 1 Januarywill take place on Monday 4 January.  Normal collections resume from Tuesday 5 January.

Christmas trees will be collected as part of normal refuse collection. Residents are advised to place their trees out with their wheeled bin on their normal collection day during the week commencing Tuesday 5 January.

Councillor Mike Smith, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member Environment and Housing, said: “The Care For Your Area team work extremely hard to avoid any inconvenience caused by Bank Holidays falling on normal collection days but these changes are unavoidable.

“Inevitably there will be an increased amount of rubbish over the Christmas period but there are plenty of opportunities for people to recycle rather than throw rubbish away in their wheeled bin.  Wrapping paper, cards and boxes can all be recycled, as can glass bottles and aluminium cans.”
