North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Screen Shot 2015-11-25 at 12.49.11Final preparations are being made for this year’s festive markets in Thirsk and Northallerton.

Hambleton District Council markets are operating as normal throughout the Christmas season with the exception that there will be no markets at all on Boxing day – Saturday 26 December.

However, there will be an additional market on Christmas Eve in Northallerton on Thursday 24 December and for the first time there will be a ‘Festive Open Market’ at Thirsk on bank holiday Monday – 28 December, which is open to any trader as long as they have public liability insurance.

“Thirsk is a lovely traditional North Yorkshire Market town superbly positioned midway between the stunning North York Moors and the beautiful Yorkshire Dales,” said Councillor Nigel Knapton, Portfolio Holder for Support Services.

“And with Boxing Day being a Saturday and the normal market cancelled, we thought it would be a good idea to hold a market instead on the bank holiday Monday at Thirsk.

“The days after Christmas are often quiet for traders so we are calling on all traders whether they are regular traders or casual traders to pitch up and book a stall and help make this market a success and hopefully become an annual event.

“We hope shoppers will venture out and support their local economy.”

For further information or to book a stall call Wendy Cullen, Technical Officer (Markets) on 01609 767162 or wendy.cullen@hambleton.gov.uk

The Northallerton Farmers Market is taking place on Wednesday 16 December, a week earlier than normal.
