A contract extension for the operation and maintenance of a Humberside power station marks the fifth major new deal in little more than a year for the px group.
The Teesside based power, process industry and engineering specialist has run the combined heat and power (CHP) plant at Stallingborough for the past five years. It supplies electricity and steam for the Cristal Pigment UK operation.
The site has been operating for over 50 years and is one of the world’s largest producers of titanium dioxide pigment – a bright white powder capable of colouring virtually any material.
Richard Worsley, Operations Manager with Cristal Pigment, said: “The px group has helped us to maximise the value of the plant and improve the efficiency of our operations. Therefore, extending the contract is a logical step to bring further success.”

In March px agreed to buy the Saltend Industrial Park – near Hull – from BP and over the coming weeks will begin providing comprehensive energy, infrastructure, operations and maintenance services to leading global companies including: Air Products, BP, Engie, INEOS, Nippon Gohsei, Perenco, Vivergo and Yara.
In August last year the company secured a three and a half year deal to provide owner’s engineering (OE) and project management services to MGT Teesside Limited as it constructs and commissions the world’s largest, new build, biomass CHP power station at Teesport.
The £650 million Tees Renewable Energy Plant will burn wood pellets and chips from certified sustainable forestry sources in order to generate up to 299MWe of electricity – enough to supply 600,000 homes.
And just over a year ago it was selected to operate and maintain the St. Fergus Gas Processing Terminal near Aberdeen. The agreement, with North Sea Midstream Partners (NSMP), coincided with another contract extension for the operation of the Teesside Gas Processing Plant – also an NSMP facility.
Early last summer the group secured a partnership with Blue Water Energy, a specialist private equity energy fund, which has helped provide capital for growth.
It now operates and maintains energy and process industry facilities throughout the UK – as well as providing engineering consultancy services worldwide – employing over 450 people directly and providing work for up to 1,000 further contractors.
