Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Final preparations are being made for this year’s festive markets in Thirsk and Northallerton

Final preparations are being made for this year’s festive markets in Thirsk and Northallerton.

Hambleton District Council markets are operating as normal throughout the Christmas season with the exception that there will be no Monday market at Thirsk on Boxing day – Monday 26 December.

“The weekly markets sell everything from cauliflowers to cards, socks to sweets and purses to plants,” said Councillor Nigel Knapton, Portfolio Holder for Governance.

“They are well worth a visit, you may pick up some great Christmas presents and are supporting the local economy at the same time.  Northallerton operates on Wednesday and Saturdays and Thirsk Mondays and Saturdays.”

Due to the success of last years ‘Festive Open Market’ at Thirsk a second is being held on bank holiday Monday – 2 January, which is open to any trader – regular or casual as long as they have public liability insurance.

Traders are being asked to pitch up and book a stall and shoppers to venture out and support their local market.

For further information or to book a stall call Wendy Cullen, Technical Officer (Markets) on 01609 767162 or markets@hambleton.gov.uk

  • The Northallerton Farmers Market is taking place on Wednesday 21 December, a week earlier than normal.
