Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Find your family’s history with help from Durham archivists this autumn

Durham County Record Office’s popular beginners’ genealogy course is headed to Barnard Castle Library this September.

Education archivist Dawn Layland said: “Our beginners’ course at the Record Office has been running for years and is always popular.

“It’s great to be bringing it out into the community.”

The course – which costs £30 – aims to introduce people who have never done any family history research before or who would like a refresher to the Record Office and the sources of information it can offer.

Sessions run on three consecutive Tuesday afternoons, from 2pm to 4pm, covering civil registration on 13 September, the Census on 20 September and Parish Registers on 27 September.
