DARYL NEWTON, Service Engineer at Polar Krush, Ashington, has been shortlisted for the Unsung Hero Award at the North East Employee of the Year Awards 2017.

The 52 year old service engineer began his trade as a plumber later in life after a career working in security for pop stars and celebrities across the UK.

Daryl joined the team at Polar Krush in 2016 at a crucial time for the business growth. In that time he has developed a professional team of engineers and has been promoted in less than a year on the back of customer feedback, praising the skill of both Daryl and his team.

Polar Krush has an expert service team of engineers across the country and Daryl’s expertise enables him to lead on training and development; developing processes and recommending customer centric improvements which have been central to the success of the brand over the past 12 months and resulted in increasingly high customer satisfaction scores.

Paul Goldfinch, founder of Polar Krush said, “Daryl has become invaluable to Polar Krush since he joined the team in 2016. Not only is he a dedicated and diligent team leader, he is fantastic to work with and always goes the extra mile in every aspect of his role. It was a pleasure to nominate him for this award and we are thrilled that he has been shortlisted.

As head of his team, Daryl works long hours to cover the country and spend time with the people in his team. Everyone at Polar Krush has their fingers crossed that he gets the recognition that he deserves on the night. Well done! ”

The North East Employee of the Year Awards, hosted by She’s Gott It! Events, is a chance to recognise and celebrate the wealth of talent across the region. It is a chance for employees to celebrate with their employees in style and give them the recognition and motivation that they deserve. The winner will be announced at a glamourous ceremony at Wynyard Hall on Friday 14 July 2017.

A spokesperson for the awards said, “We have had an overwhelming response this year which has made it incredibly difficult for our judges to select only a few applicants per category. It is astounding to see so many passionate, hard-working employees in the North East but, better yet, those who actively set out to recognise their achievements.”

The Polar Krush factory, based in Ashington, is currently undergoing a major factory refit which will enable the team to increase their output by 500%. The new factory will be unveiled in June and will also welcome local school groups behind the scenes with the aim of helping local children to better understand how a large business works in a fun and engaging way.

Established in 1998, Polar has grown into a nationally recognisable family brand, loved by families both in the UK and overseas. Serving over 15 million cups each year in the UK alone, the company also supply machines and juice drinks to several countries around the world. Customers include cinemas, bowling alleys, leisure centres, ice rinks, food courts, holiday and theme parks, shopping centres, schools and independent retailers.
