The free event takes place on Wednesday, August 12 from noon to 4pm at Middlesbrough Cycle Circuit, Prissick Base, Middlesbrough TS7 8AR.

The fun and action-packed day – run by the One Planet Middlesbrough project in partnership with Middlesbrough Council – features a range of activities for the family:

Use of the Cycle Circuit’s many bikes – including disabled/inclusive and balance bikes – for a free spin around the enclosed track. You can bring your own bike as well.

Dr Bike will help out with basic maintenance, minor repairs and adjustments.

Bike security etching.

Face painting, pedal-powered Scalextric challenge and free Fairtrade tea and coffee.

Unwanted bikes can also be brought along and donated to MEC’s bike swap scheme.

Margaret Tonkin of the One Planet Middlesbrough team said: “Cycling’s great fun and something the whole family can do together – it is also an easy way to fit exercise into your daily routine.

“The Fun Day is an ideal opportunity to learn cycle skills, try different bikes and play bike games in a safe environment with qualified cycle instructors.

“It’s open to all, and we really want as many people as possible to come along, try out the bikes and find out more about the fantastic facilities and activities that are available in Middlesbrough.”
