Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

From Beamish Hall With Love

Screen Shot 2015-04-29 at 16.19.04The team at The Stables bar and microbrewery at BEST WESTERN Beamish Hall is set to provide real ale to Moscow’s first ever British Beer Festival.

Not only that; but Beamish Hall’s and The Stables’ very own master brewer, John Taylor, will attend the festival in Russia to give talks on brewing and traditional British pub life.

The request comes after The Stables, which sells ‘The Bobby Dazzler’ – a beer brewed at its own microbrewery – was stumbled upon by frequenters of a bar in Moscow, also called The Bobby Dazzler, whilst exploring the local area on holiday two years ago.

A strong partnership has been forged between John and one of the holidaymakers, Yuri Shulakov, in the years since – resulting in the invitation to join Russia’s first festival of beer and British pub culture, organised by Britannia Travel.

The festival, which will run from 21st – 24th May, is expected to attract around 5,000 attendees who will enjoy music, games and entertainment as well as experiencing all that British pub life has to offer – from traditional English and Scottish breakfasts and afternoon tea, to popular UK television programmes and, of course, plenty of beer and ale.

The ale from Beamish Hall – which is managed by the UK’s largest independent hotel management company, Redefine|BDL Hotels – will be available alongside a range of beers from other small breweries, as well as those from larger, well-known names like Fuller’s and Marston’s.

John Taylor, master brewer at The Stables and Beamish Hall, said: “It’s an absolute privilege to be asked to send our ale over to the festival for the people of Russia to enjoy; but to be asked to attend and share knowledge with peers and enthusiasts is a bonus.

“Cask ales, craft beers and other similar drinks are becoming popular all over the world, and celebrations large and small like Oktoberfest and even our own Beamish Hall Winter Ale Festival, are a huge draw – so it’s great to see our twin pub in Moscow bringing this to life for its people.”

Yuri Shulakov, founder of and beer tourist guide at Britannia Travel and one of the organisers of the city’s Real Ale Festival, said: “Our celebration will be the first of its kind in Moscow, as well as the whole of Russia, so we want to make sure that we get everything right. I know first-hand what a talented, enthusiastic and expert brewer John is, so look forward to him sharing his knowledge – and his beer – when he arrives in Moscow.”
