The sun had its hat on for families and residents attending this year’s annual fun day held at Cleadon Park this week.
Over 800 people attended the event, which was held on Wednesday and included bouncy castles, fairground rides and magic shows. Some of the bravest visitors even got the opportunity to handle snakes, lizards and mice as part of a demonstration by a mobile petting zoo.
The event was held at Ridgeway Academy School and is hosted by Karbon Homes alongside South Tyneside Council, South Tyneside Homes, Ridgeway Children’s Centre and St Mark and St Cuthbert Church.
The fun day is a firm favourite of Karbon Homes and is a great opportunity to remember the achievements of the regeneration of the Cleadon Park estate and for members of the community to come together and have a great time.
During the event, which has been running for over 10 years, visitors also got the chance to meet representatives from the local Police and Fire Services.
The ever popular chocolate tombola, together with a donation from Kev’s Ices raised £350 for the Mayor of South Tyneside’s charities; CLIC Sargent Children’s Cancer and the British Heart Foundation.
The Cleadon Park area was transformed between 2004 and 2017 by a regeneration project which saw hundreds of homes demolished, and a total of 730 new homes built by Karbon Homes and Bellway at a cost of £90m, alongside fantastic community facilities including a Primary Care Centre and library.
