GAS hits century milestone with second triple appointment

CaptureA cost reduction specialist has made its second wave of appointments in the space of a month – reaching a significant milestone in the process.

In January Great Annual Savings Group (GAS) hired a head of energy, marketing and communications manager and head of procurement as part of its strategy to beef up its senior management team. Now the Seaham-based firm has continued that process by making another trio of appointments which have taken its headcount to more than 100.

Joseph Letras has been hired as head of corporate to drive forward the strategic growth of the company’s corporate customer base across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.  Previously he spent several years in account management for EDF and NUS Consulting Group before moving into a series of key commercial roles at oil giant Shell and Dong Energy.

Duncan Edward has joined GAS as head of partner channel. He brings to the role more than 30 years of senior-level sales experience at digital camera provider Canon, Newcastle Falcons and Vodafone, winning significant blue-chip contracts with the likes of construction equipment maker JCB and the West Midlands Police. At GAS he will be responsible for the launch of the firm’s partner channel division across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Meanwhile, Rebecca Cairney has joined GAS as head of e-commerce. In her new role she will be responsible for the design and launch of the firm’s e-commerce function and will oversee marketing and communications. Previously she spent almost five years at clothes maker J Barbour & Sons, where she developed a digital strategy for the firm and implemented a series of online communication campaigns. She has also worked in digital marketing roles at Swinton Insurance, healthcare provider Bupa and baby product retailer Mamas & Papas.

The three appointments will further strengthen GAS, which has seen radical growth since moving to larger premises in Seaham last June, growing its headcount by more than 230% in seven months. The next stage of the company’s growth is now underway, with plans to increase headcount from 100 to 150 by the end of June 2016.

Bradley Groves, chief executive and chairman of Great Annual Savings Group, said: “We’re thrilled to have reached the century milestone by hiring three high-calibre staff in Joseph, Duncan and Rebecca. These strategically important appointments will help us to develop new markets and win new customers as we embark on the next chapter in our growth story.”

GAS helps businesses reduce their variable costs and save money in a range of areas including energy procurement, energy and water cost management, fire safety, telecoms and insurance. The company was launched in 2012 in South Shields but moved to larger premises on the Spectrum Business Park in Seaham last summer following a period of rapid expansion.
