A Gateshead teacher has been nominated for a teaching award.
Jamie Johnston from Ryton has been nominated for the PK Education North East Supply Teacher of the Year 2017 award. Jamie is currently working as a hospital teacher on the children’s oncology unit at the Great North Children’ s Hospital in Newcastle.
Jamie is described as ‘a pleasure to work with and a real gem.’ He was going to leave teaching prior to beginning supply teaching and landing what he calls ‘the job of a lifetime’ at the Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle.
Now in their third year, the PK Education Supply Teacher of the Year Awards recognise and reward supply teachers from across the North East who are outstanding in their profession.
Three candidates from PK Education’s Newcastle office are shortlisted in the awards and the winner will be chosen via a public vote. Voting is open until Sunday 4 June and can be done here https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/pk-supply-teacher-awards-2017.
In addition to Jamie, Anna Fronek from County Durham and Rebecca Taylor from Hexham have been nominated for the award. The winner will be announced during National Supply Teacher Week (12 – 16 June 2017).
Discussing the awards Lee Carpenter, Director of PK Education, said: “Now back for the third year, we love these awards as it gives us the perfect opportunity to recognise the hard work of our supply teachers. They have an incredibly hard job and often carry out their work in difficult circumstances. They deserve recognition for the enthusiasm, dedication and commitment they bring to each and every class and school they work in.
