Get Set for Summer Fun

Screen Shot 2015-06-24 at 09.23.38It’s time to get set for an ingenious summer of fun in Darlington. With a host of events and activities on offer, boredom will be a thing of the past for youngsters and their families in Darlington.

One of the highlights will be the return of Darlington by Sea from Thursday 23 July – Thursday 6 August. The market square will be awash with pirates, Punch and Judy, sand, buckets and spades and free family fun every day.

On Wednesday 12 August it’s time to take your partner in the annual Tea Dance in the Market Square with free cream teas. The event launches the Darlington Summer markets from Thursday 13 – Sunday 16 August with four days of shopping and entertainment for the whole family.

Active families can take part in a whole range of sports and activities at the Dolphin Centre and Eastbourne Sports Complex. These include intensive swimming lessons, cricket, gymnastics, family badminton, fun in the pool and much more. Explorer sessions offer family fun in Darlington’s great outdoors as well as nature themed events. Indoor fun in and around the town includes craft sessions at Crown Street Library and Head of Steam.

Councillor Nick Wallis, Darlington Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, the Environment and Transport, said:

“There really is something for everyone this summer in Darlington. Whether it’s shopping, fun, sports or arts and crafts, there’s always a good reason to pop into town and see what’s going on.”

A leaflet with information on all sporting courses is now available from The Dolphin Centre, Crown Street Library, Indoor Markets office and around the town. For details contact 01325 406411 or visit: www.healthydarlington.gov.uk
