Businesses based in and around Alnwick are being encouraged to get involved and benefit from a free business networking opportunity, whilst brushing up on their digital skills at the same time.

The iNorthumberland Business Support Team is running its next free digital introductory workshop between 1pm and 4pm on Monday 23rd March 2015. Held at St James’s URC Church Centre, Pottergate, the session will enable business people to network with others in the area while also finding out how they can grow their businesses online.

Attendees will hear from business advisers on how they can make the most of the newly available superfast broadband by getting to grips with social media, cloud computing, search engine optimisation and making the most of digital marketing.

Offering FREE high quality digital training courses, the iNorthumberland Business Support programme includes one-to-one sessions with experienced business advisers in a workshop setting, access to an online learning portal which businesses can use at their own leisure and focused master classes so they can expand their digital knowledge even further.

These in-depth master classes give participants the chance to build on the knowledge and skills they have developed from the online training available atwww.inorthumberlandbusiness.co.uk and receive further tuition from marketing industry experts.

The iNorthumberland Business Support programme is delivered by Arch, The Northumberland Development Company and helps businesses to capitalise on online technology in order to manage and grow their business online.

Eligible businesses that also complete 12 hours of training will qualify for 12 months of free superfast broadband – worth up to £400. In addition, extra funding is now available for businesses in locations where new infrastructure may be required to access superfast broadband.

Cllr Dave Ledger, Deputy Leader of Northumberland County Council and Chair of Arch, said: “Previous workshops have been effective as networking events and attendees have commented that hearing other businesses share their experience of using digital technology has been really helpful in formulating their own ideas and business strategies.

“I would urge all Northumberland-based businesses to take advantage of the free training available. Attending one of the introductory workshops is a great way of getting an overview of the programme and finding out more about how the training can help your business.
