The Youth Direction team have been visiting locations all across the Borough with their ‘On Your Bike Challenge’ which sees keen volunteers get on board static bikes to cycle the distance from John O’Groats to Lands’ End.
On Friday 14 November Stockton Council is hosting BBC Children in Need with Stockton’s first ever Onesie Party – a spectacular event full of fun and entertainment. The BBC will be broadcasting live from the party which is taking place on Stockton’s High Street from 5 to 9pm. Fundraisers from across the region are invited to Stockton to hand in their cheques as part of the event.
Meanwhile, during the Onesie Party young people from the Council’s open access and targeted Youth Direction team will be completing the final leg of their fundraising cycling journey inside the Onesie Activity marquee while a video showing the volunteer cyclists’ efforts across the Borough will also be screened.
Councillor Ann McCoy, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing the Borough’s first Onesie Party to Stockton High Street to support BBC Children in Need. I hope anyone who has been fundraising across our region comes down to Stockton on Friday to show their support for Children in Need and hand in their cheques.
“So many people have jumped on their bikes and volunteered their time and efforts to raise money during our ‘On Your Bike Challenge’. The journey is not yet complete and volunteers will be pedalling hard and fast to make up the distance in the lead up to Stockton’s Onesie Party. All funds raised on their journey will go in aid of BBC Children in Need so come down during the Onesie Party to encourage the young volunteers as they strive to hit the home stretch.”
The ‘On Your Bike Challenge’ is part of Stockton Council’s wider fundraising celebration supporting BBC Children In Need, for more information about the challenge or about Stockton’s Onesie Party visit www.stockton.gov.uk/childreninneed
