Gisborough Hall has revealed detailed plans for its new multi-million-pound spa development.

Earlier this year, the family-owned hotel became fully-independent for the first time since it opened 15 years ago and announced its intention to build a new spa within its grounds.

Work will get underway later this year or early next year and it’s hoped the extensive woodland spa will be open by the end of 2018.

Gisborough Hall’s management team plan to create around 38 full-time and 28 part-time new jobs with the opening of the spa, which will include an 18-meter indoor pool, an outdoor hydro-pool, a variety of heat experiences with relaxation space, nine treatment rooms, an extensive gym and a fitness studio. The new spa will offer a full range of spa days and membership packages, as well as providing the facilities to all hotel residents.

Kim Yardley, general manager of Gisborough Hall, said: “Our Revival Zone spa at Gisborough Hall has always been popular but it’s just not big enough for the demand that we have. What’s more we’re now in a position to build on our current offer and make both Gisborough Hall and the surrounding area an international destination for business and leisure.

“Our woodland spa setting will overlook the beautiful Cleveland Hills in a secluded yet easily reached location. Our aim is to offer our local community and guests from all over the world a different spa experience and we hope to be open by next Christmas.”

Nick Holmes, a non-executive director at Gisborough, added: “The spa industry is growing rapidly throughout the UK but particularly in North of England which already boasts some of the finest, award-winning spas. The hotel has a superb location and the addition of an outstanding spa facility can only enhance its reputation both regionally and nationally. We also want to put Guisborough as a town on the map as a go-to destination which, in turn, brings people to the region and helps to boost the local economy.

“Our 15th anniversary year is the ideal time to make this investment which is creating a lot of excitement and we hope to be able to share more plans in the coming months.”

Gisborough Hall will remain open as normal throughout the spa development.

The business currently employs a team of over 100 local people and in March received its best AA inspection to date, rating it as one of the top destinations in the North East and Yorkshire. Gisborough Hall was awarded the AA’s four ‘Silver Star’ rating for its overall quality and two AA Rosettes for its food. The silver stars mark Gisborough Hall out as being of superior quality and are one of the highest hotel accolades available in the UK.

A number of investment plans have been getting underway to mark Gisborough Hall’s 15th anniversary year, including a new in-house reservations team, the refurbishment of the meeting facilities and the appointment of a ‘welcome host’. In addition, over £30,000 has recently been invested in state-of-the-art technology, including a new website and customer Wi-Fi.

Gisborough Hall dates back to 1857 and the grade II-listed country house was fully restored in 2002 following investment by the Gisborough family, who privately own the hotel.

The hotel is home to Chaloner’s Restaurant, a Revival Zone spa, 71 bedrooms and ‘G’ Bar and Bistro, as well as a ballroom, conservatory and events’ spaces and its traditional drawing room and inner hall.
