Screen Shot 2016-06-10 at 10.42.25Cobalt Business Park, the UK’s largest office park, is inviting staff and residents to support children’s charity Barnardo’s in a ride of a lifetime family bike ride from Cobalt to Amsterdam supplied by Bike4Health. The trip is to celebrate 150 years of Barnardo’s – its work supporting vulnerable children and to raise funds so that it can continue to do so.

The 46 mile scenic cycle is fully guided and supported throughout. The ride leaves at 3:00 pm on Friday 16th September from Cobalt Central retail parade, pedalling the three miles to North Shields ferry terminal to take the Amsterdam ferry that sails at 5:00 pm.

After a night on the ferry the ride takes in the delights of the Dutch cycle ways and countryside before lunch in Amsterdam and returning to the overnight ferry on Saturday evening, then cycling back to Cobalt for 10:00am on Sunday morning, the 18th September

All participants must raise a minimum sponsorship level of £240 per person – children under three go free.

The charity, which has its North Eastern Regional Office based at Cobalt, are also supported as their chosen charity of the year by Cobalt occupier Santander, who are offering match funding to any member of staff taking part in the ride.

Amanda Warrant, Barnardo’s fundraising manager, said: “This is a great opportunity for families to enjoy themselves, see the wonderful city of Amsterdam and help raise vital funds for vulnerable children at the same time. Money raised goes to our work in the local area with children and young people, such as those who live in poverty or who have a disability.

“This is also a really special year for the charity, as it’s our 150thyear. We’re really excited by the Go Dutch ride and we’re hoping people will sign up to join in the fun.”

Amy Carroll from Cobalt Park says “We’re delighted to be supporting Barnardo’s in its 150th year and we’re excited about such a great ride all the way to Amsterdam and back. There are only 60 places available on the ride, so we suggest anyone who is interested should please book early.”

The trip includes: 2 Nights ferry accommodation Fri/Sat; 2 evening meals on ferry (unlimited buffet) Fri/Sat; 2 breakfasts on ferry (Sat/Sun); Fully supported guided ride, support vehicle available if required; Amsterdam bike tour, park picnic (picnic not included).
