Golden tickets could win diners free pizza for a year

Throughout October, Scalini’s Osborne Road, Jesmond, is handing out envelopes to each of its customers.

And 25 of the envelopes will contain a golden ticket, entitling the lucky diners who receive them to enjoy 365 pizzas – one every day for a year – entirely free of charge.

Among the eight pizzas they can choose from are Margherita, Bolognese, quattro stagione, fredo, with ham, pineapple and sweetcorn and picante, with pepperoni, peppers and jalapeños.

The initiative is the brainchild of the restaurant’s owner, Newcastle-based Malhotra Group plc, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

The Group, which owns a number of bars and restaurants throughout Newcastle, Gateshead and North Tyneside, incorporated Scalini’s into its stable of leisure venues in 2010.

“The restaurant holds a very special place in our portfolio,” said director of operations, Atul Malhotra, who was a frequent visitor to Scalini’s for many years prior to taking the reins.

“It represents everything we hold dear; good food in a lovely location, with an emphasis on family.

“We’ve had an amazing 25 years and we thought this would be a great way to celebrate our birthday.”
