From today (30 July) to 2 August there will be a host of food outlets serving a range of flavours to suit every palate in Parish Gardens, just off Stockton High Street.  From 12noon to 10pm visitors can try sweet Churros – a fried-dough pastry similar to doughnuts, artisan German sausages and schnitzel, shwabian noodles and a host of baked treats and freshly roasted coffee.

On Saturday 1 August as part of the Carnival there will be a range of food retailers on the Riverside.

Shirl’s Shakes will offer American style thick ice-cream milkshakes, real fruit smoothies, sweets and hot and cold drinks, while a range of delicious filled baguettes, sandwiches, homemade corned beef slices and pasties will be among the fare available from Earls of Ashwood.

Carnival goers will also find an array of handmade savoury pies from Just Love Pies, all served with ‘proper’ mushy peas, homemade gravy and mint sauce.

For a sweet treat there will be a variety of ice-cream products, ice cream cones, lollies and soft drinks from GB Ice Cream.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton on Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “In addition to all of the great new cafes and places to eat in Stockton Town Centre there will be an additional food offer during the festival to make grabbing food on the go easy. Take time out of your busy festival day to dine alfresco with a tempting range of delicious treats on offer with stalls from a range of local food retailers.”

SIRF takes place from 30 July to 2 August and will celebrate the redevelopment of Stockton Town Centre with four days packed full of spectacular street theatre, dance and music productions from all around the world.
