Whilst you’re staying in the area, head to Seahouses for some amazing boat trips – you may even get to see some seals. It will be great fun for the kids, certainly not something you can see every day.

In each accommodation, there is a wood-burning stove, cooking equipment, utensils and crockery. There are comfy double beds and futons to sleep on, you just need to bring your own bedding. There is something really special about this place – not only do they offer camping, but you can also take part in some of their wilderness events and workshops. This includes bat nights, pottery classes, holistic therapy and wool workshops. It is certainly a holiday with a difference.

Hesleyside Huts in Bellingham (NE48 2LA) offer shepherd’s huts that would rival any B&B. Inside you will find an oven, hot plate and wood burning stove for cooking. You can guarantee a great night’s sleep too with the king size feather beds. No slumming it in a sleeping bags here. You will even find an ensuite shower and toilet, meaning that you don’t have to find the toilet block with a torch, in the middle of the night. A perfect place for couples.
