Groups invited to apply for share of £40,000 funding

Community groups and organisations in County Durham are being invited to apply for funding as part of this year’s It’s Up 2 U funding scheme.

East Durham Rural Corridor AAP has allocated £40,000 to the scheme, with applications invited from community groups, centres, sports clubs and any other not for profit group.

Groups from the East Durham Rural Corridor AAP area can apply for amounts from £1,000 to £4,000 by calling 03000 261128 or emailing eastdurhamruralaap@durham.gov.uk

The closing date for the return of completed applications is Friday, 22 September at 12pm – with the public voting event set to take place on Saturday, 25 November at Trimdon Community College in Trimdon Village.

Jane Bellis, AAP co-ordinator, said: “We are delighted to launch this year’s It’s Up 2 U project which gives residents a say on how local money is spent.

“We encourage groups to come forward and apply for the scheme which has seen a number of fantastic projects delivered in the past.”

Around 500 people attended last year’s public voting event, which saw funding provided to Fishburn Academy Band, Future Leisure in Coxhoe, St Alban’s Luncheon Club, Fishburn Allotment Association and Fishburn Youth and Community Centre.
