Health, Wellbeing and Beauty Day at Thornaby Central Library

logo-landscapeVISITORS to Thornaby Pavilion shopping centre will be able to get health and wellbeing information and advice thanks to a dedicated day which is being organised by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Library Service.

The free event which will take place at Thornaby Central Library on Tuesday 3 May from 10am to 5pm will offer residents support and information on a number of health matters including hearing impairment, asthma and weight loss.  Advisers from the NHS, MoreLife (who provide the Council’s family weight management service), Healthwatch Stockton-on Tees and staff from High Flyers Children Centre, among others, will be on hand to answer questions and give advice.

Throughout the day shoppers will also be able to get beauty advice and information while being treated to mini makeovers.  Avon and The Body Shop will also be providing free samples (while stocks last) and there will also be a range of stalls selling jewellery, handbags and scarves.

Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Health, said: “We are pleased to be welcoming health services and wellbeing advisors to Thornaby Central Library for what should be a very informative event.  Thanks to everyone who has worked together to put this day together and we hope residents living in and around Thornaby come along on the day to find out how they can improve their wellbeing and lead healthier lives.”

Oliver Westley, Pavilion shopping centre manager, said: “A healthy lifestyle is of the upmost importance to everyone, so this event is a great way to inform the community about what services are available to them within the Thornaby area.”
