Free classes to help children increase their confidence in water are being offered in a number of County Durham leisure centres over the next few weeks.

Young people aged between two and six can join Brock the badger and his friends for the Ready, Sett, Splash sessions, which include 30 minutes of instructor-led fun and 30 minutes of free play.

The free classes are taking place between 13 June and 22 July on the days and times set out below:

  • Chester-le-Street Leisure Centre: Sundays, 2.30pm – 3.30pm
  • Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre: Saturdays, 2pm – 3pm
  • Peterlee Leisure Centre: Wednesdays, 1pm – 2pm
  • Woodhouse Close Leisure Complex: Sundays, 1pm – 2pm

Little ones can attend as many of the free sessions as they like until the offer ends on July 22.

Kaye Stephenson, Principal Aquatics Manager at Durham County Council, said: “Ready, Sett, Splash is great fun for children and the sessions provide the perfect balance between fun and learning.

“Each class includes lots to keep little ones entertained, from toys to treasure hunts, and there’s plenty of fun for the adults as well.”
