Household canvass to start across Ryedale

Ryedale District Council are now starting our annual household canvass across the area.

Every year we are required to check the details of everyone registered to vote in elections currently living in households in Ryedale to ensure the information we hold is up to date and identify residents who are not registered, so they can be encouraged to do so.  We do this between September and November.

This week we are starting to send a letter to all households with the information we currently have on the voting register for that property and ask them to let us know of any changes.

When the letter arrives, please check the details and respond to it as soon as possible. If you are able to use the web link included in the letter to respond, then it will save the council money.

Simon Copley, Ryedale District Council elections manager said: “We need to make sure that our records are correct for any election that may be called in 2018. Being registered to vote gives you the right to participate at elections and could improve your credit rating.”

If you are unsure about how to fill in the form or require further information about the canvass, please get in touch with our Elections team by email to elections@ryedale.gov.uk or by ringing us on 01653 600666.
