Local company Ambleside Homes were delighted to have recently won the best high volume new housing development (over 10 units) category at the 2015 North and East Yorkshire LABC Building Excellence Awards against stiff competition.

Designed by Andrew Fletcher of Stokesley based 147 Design, The Sidings comprises 21 dwellings of varied styles.  This lack of uniformity has been purposely done to reflect the various building types on display around the existing village and this approach has led to a large volume of positive feedback from local residents.

Close liaison took place with the planning department from the early stages to agree the design concept for the scheme.  Building Control was then consulted to ensure the properties were constructed to a high standard, with great attention to detail paid by the developer.

The end result is eye catching and individual homes which were quickly sold and adapted to each homeowner’s preferences throughout the final build process to allow for a truly personalised finish.

Les Chapman, Head of North Yorkshire Building Control Partnership, commented “This is an excellent scheme which sets the bar high for future submissions within this category.  The individuality on display is a breath of fresh air that replicates a true village street scene to great effect.”

Peter Mandefield of Ambleside Homes said, “We wouldn’t have had all this wonderful feedback and won the award without the guidance, inspiration and support of Rachel Smith the Planning Officer and Andrew Fletcher our Architect.  I am so pleased, delighted and proud that all the hard work designing the scheme has been recognised with the award, a total but pleasant surprise.”
