Howard Russell looks to hit £25m turnover after winning major new contracts

North East construction company Howard Russell is set to achieve its target turnover of £25m by 2018, following a series of major new contracts wins.

The firm has recently started on site with over £19m worth of new build projects across the country on behalf of four newly established clients.

In Haddenham, Buckinghamshire Howard Russell is undertaking a £5.5m new build project for lifting equipment specialist, GGR Group. At Cambridge Research Park, the firm is developing nine speculative industrial units for property investment management firm, Rockspring.

Commenting on the firm’s growth, Craig Muldoon, technical & sales director at Howard Russell said: “We have worked very hard to secure some tremendous contracts over the past two years, all of which have been won via competitive tenders. It has been a long and tough process, but we have gained the trust of a number of major developers, which has resulted in the opportunity to work on new projects outside of the region.”

He continued: “As a firm we are very proud to have broken into new markets and to be involved in some fantastic new development schemes right across the UK.”

Closer to home in Teesside, Howard Russell is developing a new £5.5m industrial property for international engineering and heavy lifting specialists, Mammoet on behalf of UK Land Estates.  The firm is also on site in Gillingham where it is building a new £2.5m storage facility for Lok’nStore, which is due for completion this summer.

Howard Russell has recently expanded its team to a total of 33 staff following the addition of three project managers and four site engineers. The firm, which also supports a wide network of subcontractors, says there are more jobs in the pipeline as they look to recruit a design manager and an estimator.

Barry Wilkinson, contracts director at Howard Russell added: “The expansion of our team is a direct result of the wide range of schemes which we are currently involved in. We have a considerable pool of talent within the firm including project managers, estimators, quantity surveyors, site managers and engineers so we are well placed to respond to the opportunities ahead.”

In the last six months the firm has completed a 50,000sqft bespoke manufacturing facility for tool manufacturer, Guhring Ltd, and the development of 75,000sqft of industrial accommodation at Poyle Central, near Heathrow, on behalf of Chancerygate.
