Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Information Event for Prospective Fostering and Adoption Candidates

PEOPLE interested in the possibility of fostering or adopting a child are being encouraged to visit an information event being held by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

The information session will be held at the Jim Cooke Conference Suite within Stockton Central Library on Church Road on Thursday 24 August between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

Residents unable to attend but who believe they could provide a child with time, commitment and a loving home are asked to contact the Council’s Child Placement Team for an information pack.

Councillor Ann McCoy, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “There is simply a massive demand for foster carers and adoptive parents across the North East, with hundreds of children looking for short term placements or forever families depending on their circumstances.

“We have foster carers and adopters from all walks of life and nobody should rule themselves out from making an enquiry because they think they will be ineligible.

“All kinds of people may have the commitment, skills and experience needed to make an immeasurable difference to a child’s life and to give them the positive family experience they need.”

Anyone who goes forward with the process of fostering or adopting will receive professional support and guidance, comprehensive training, as well as access to local support groups. A generous weekly allowance is given to foster carers to cover costs.
