intu Metrocentre retailers compete for top awards

Voting is now open for intu Metrocentre’s annual Retailer Awards – where some of the retail sector’s most respected brands go head to head to compete for a host of prestigious accolades.
Retailers from over 300 stores will battle it out for twelve awards for retailer excellence, including best specialist retailer, large, small, independent, health and beauty, jewellery and footwear and accessories retailer of the year.
Menswear and Womenswear Retailer of the Year categories are always hotly contended and this year will be no different with the arrival of the stylish new FatFace store in Platinum Mall, as well as the spectacular new Next store in green mall adding to strong competition from intu Metrocentre’s established fashion offerings such as the stand-alone Coast boutique and the chic FLANNELS store, both situated in Platinum Mall.
The responsibility of judging the entrants is in the hands of the general public and voting is now open for people to nominate their favourite retailer as well as highlight excellence in customer service – there’s even a £250 intu Gift Card card up for grabs for one lucky voter, just for taking part.
After winning the award for Leisure/Catering Retailer of the year at the 2017 Retailer Awards, MOD Pizza is hoping to bag the title for the second year running – though the restaurant will be up against exotic dining options including Thaikhun, Bún & Roll and wagamama.
Another hotly contended award is the title of Independent Retailer of the Year – where the shopping centre’s eclectic mix of independent retailers vie for the top spot. Doc Black Ink will be defending its title from last year against stiff competition from Mulroy Antiques, The Back Page and Paris Dress House.
Helen Atkinson, marketing manager at intu Metrocentre, said:
The Retailer Awards are always a real highlight of our calendar – not only is it a fantastic opportunity for retail staff to get together outside work but the event recognises and celebrates the fantastic work and high levels of customer service that staff deliver throughout the year.
We would encourage all of our shoppers to head online and vote for their favourite retailer – not only is it a fantastic way of acknowledging and rewarding excellence in customer service but the chance to win a intu Gift Card is the icing on the cake!”
Visit intu.co.uk/metrocentre to vote. Votes can be cast until Sunday 19 August.
