Investment puts Recycling Company at Cutting Edge

ONE of the region’s fastest growing recycling companies has announced the next phase of investment to put them at the forefront of the industry.

County Durham-based J Denham Metals has purchased and installed a Lefort 1250 Amazone Shear at its facility in Bishop Auckland.

The machinery is the largest of its type operating in the county and increases the family-run firm’s production capacity; ensuring recycling processes are now quicker, efficient and more environmentally friendly.

J Denham Metals owner John Denham said: “The purchase and installation of this machine is part of our continuing improvement policy and the investment gives the company the ability to keep up with the increased demand for our recycling services in the region.

“Demand for the volume and quality of our materials has been increasing rapidly and with the new shear operational we can now process large quantities of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals more efficiently to be loaded into 20ft containers for export via regional port facilities or in bulk vessels via the Redcar Bulk Terminal in Teesside.”

J Denham Metals, which is now run by John and his father Joe, was founded more than 50 years and has grown rapidly in recent years, opening a second site in Wingate in East Durham to enable continued expansion into new markets.

Additional staff have been brought into the business to accommodate the expansion and plans for further investment and growth over the coming months are in place.

The machine utilises 2 x 620hp diesel engines achieving an impressive 1250 tons cutting force.
