Newcastle restaurant Caffe Vivo has been recognised as a ‘Local Gem’ in the latest UK Good Food Guide.

Caffe Vivo, an Italian eatery located in Trinity Gardens, Quayside is among a small group of Newcastle restaurants listed within the Good Food Guide. This is the 10th time it has appeared in the Guide and the third time it has received the ‘Local Gem’ accolade.

The restaurant was also recently awarded the OpenTable Diners’ Choice Award 2017.

The Good Food Guide is the UK’s longest running restaurant guide and the latest edition lists 1,235 entries based on anonymous inspections and feedback from readers. Venues are only listed as ‘Local Gems’ when they are seen as “the perfect neighbourhood venues, delivering good, freshly cooked food at great value for money.”

Caffe Vivo is part of the Newcastle-based 21 Hospitality Group, run and owned by renowned chef and restaurateur Terry Laybourne.

His flagship Quayside restaurant 21 along with his nearby pub The Broad Chare were also listed in the latest Good Food Guide.

Terry Laybourne said: “Awards are always great for the kitchen and front of house team who work so hard aiming to consistently provide great food and service. It’s particularly satisfying when awards are based on the feedback of diners.

“With rising competition around Newcastle it’s a real pleasure to have three of our restaurants in the Good Food Guide and Caffe Vivo cited as a Local Gem.”
