Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Key car park open to night time economy

A KEY Middlesbrough parking facility is extending its opening hours into the evening to support the burgeoning night time economy.

The Cleveland Centre’s rooftop car park is now open to town centre visitors from 6pm to midnight for just £1.50.

Its location has been recognised as of key strategic importance in Middlesbrough’s city-scale ambitions due to the success of the Holiday Inn Express hotel and other major regeneration projects.

Middlesbrough Town Hall is currently undergoing a multi-million pound refurbishment as is Centre North East which will be renamed The Pinnacle with a bowling alley, sky bar, nightclub, micropub and gym, as well as the Turtle Bay.

Bistrot Pierre is already proving hugely popular while the Baker and Bedford Street scene is also on the Cleveland Centre’s doorstep. Further along the line new Grade A office space is planned for the east of Centre Square.

Cleveland Centre manager Graham Skillen said: “We’re delighted to open our rooftop car park for Middlesbrough town centre’s increasing number of night-time visitors, especially during the busy festive period.”

Cllr Charlie Rooney, Middlesbrough’s Deputy Mayor and Executive Member for City Centre Strategy, said: “Middlesbrough needs a thriving night time economy to sustain itself and grow further. Safe and secure parking in a key central location such as the Cleveland Centre is hugely important to that.”
