Konect Events ‘Putt’ on a Competition for Charity

Screen Shot 2015-05-28 at 11.35.49A LEADING North East events company is set to score a hole in one, after being chosen to deliver a major event.

Konect Events has been appointed as the organisers of this year’s annual Mayor of Sunderland’s Charity Golf Day on July 31.

And one lucky player could walk away with a £15,000 car if they are able to show their skill on the day.

The event, which will be held at Wearside Golf Club, will see teams of four take part in an 18-hole competition in aid of the Mayor of Sunderland, Councillor Barry Curran, chosen Mayoral charities.

And if anyone is lucky enough to score a hole in one on the first hole they’ll take away an added prize – a Ford Fiesta Zetec donated by sponsors, Benfield Ford.

The event will include tea, coffee and a bacon roll on arrival, a two-course meal after the competition and a raffle, along with the chance to win a number of additional prizes for achievements such as winning team, nearest the pin and longest drive.

“It’s great to be working hand in hand once again with the Mayor and his team to deliver this fantastic event,” said Gavin Brown, managing director of  Konect Events.

“The Mayor’s Charity Golf Day is always a fun day for everyone who is involved and the money we raise will go to some really worthwhile causes.”

The Mayor of Sunderland, Cllr Barry Curran said: “I’d like to thank everyone involved in making this event possible, and invite everyone along to support us on the day.

“One of the many honours associated with becoming Mayor of our city is the chance to nominate your chosen charities for the year ahead. This means that all fundraising activities during my term of office, including this golf day, will help charities particularly close to my heart.

“I hope golfers of all ages and all abilities will take part and join in the fun, there’s the chance to win some great prizes and more importantly, raise money which will help improve many people’s lives.”

The tournament will take the form of a Texas Scramble, with each player will take a shot, choose the team’s best drive and then all four players will take their next shots from that location.

The competition, which is an all-day event, will tee off at 9.30am. Tickets are priced at £48 per person or £192 per team of four and are available from www.getkonect.com/events.

Money raised will go to the Mayor’s chosen charities – Sunderland MIND, Sunderland Armed Forces Network and NDRC (North East Disabilities Resource Centre).

“This is going to be a really great day in aid of some worthy causes so we hope lots of people will get behind it and take part,” said Gavin.
