Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Leading Catering Company’s Design offering is in full Bloom

Screen Shot 2015-07-28 at 13.26.01A North East catering firm is celebrating the growth of its kitchen design service ahead of the opening of one the most highly anticipated visitor attractions in the region.

Crosbys Catering Equipment, based in Brough Park Way, Newcastle, has installed a £38,000 kitchen and servery at a new visitor centre within Wynyard Hall – an award-winning County Durham stately home.

The visitor centre, which opens next month, will be the gateway to The Gardens at Wynyard Hall, a £1.6 million attraction which will eventually cover four acres and be one of the largest rose gardens in the UK.

A café and farm shop will also be housed in the 36m long visitor centre, featuring a range of locally sourced produce and gifts, with capacity for 11-150 indoor and outdoor covers, offering beautiful views of the rose garden.

Crosbys designed a back of house preparation area in the visitor centre, with refrigerated and dry food storage, a small cooking facility and dishwash area.

The team also designed back bar refrigeration in the front of house area, as well as beverage equipment and a granite-top servery counter, shop-fitted with counterline-manufactured, refrigerated and heated drop-in units. A large refrigerated merchandiser was supplied by Crosbys in the shop and delicatessen area.

Crosbys’ relationship with Wynyard Hall began 25 years ago when Bob Crosby, founder of the company, supplied a six burner range to Sir John Hall – the current owner of the site – and his family, who lived in Wynyard Hall at that time. Crosbys has continued to work with Wynyard Hall across the decades, with the latest project being overseen by Bob’s sons, directors Ben and Roger Crosby.

John Clarke, project and design manager at Crosbys, said: “We’re delighted to continue our longstanding relationship with Wynyard Hall through our design work for the visitor centre at The Gardens – especially as it will be the first area that visitors see when they arrive at this stunning attraction.

“We’re particularly proud of the finished servery counter, which looks fantastic. We had to take great care when lifting the refrigerated drop-in units into place over the granite-top counter – and fitting the large refrigerated merchandiser into place was also a challenge, but we’re very happy with the finished look.

“We have further kitchen design projects in the pipeline for a range of hospitality clients in the North East and beyond, and we look forward to further developing this side of the business as our portfolio grows.”
