Northumberland Hotel, Golf and Spa retreat, Matfen Hall, is serving up a grand slam afternoon tea for tennis lovers.

The Wimbledon themed special is only available during the two weeks of the tournament and includes the classic combination of finger sandwiches and cakes  – with plenty of strawberries and cream to capture the traditional Wimbledon spirit.

The menu includes Hot smoked Salmon, Paprika & Spring Onion, Beef and Horseradish, Egg and Tomato, and Cucumber, Cream Cheese & Chive sandwiches, followed by Strawberry Tart, Strawberry and White Chocolate Torte, Strawberry and Black Pepper Cake and Strawberry Trifle.

Paul Blakely, executive head chef at Matfen Hall, designed the menu. He said; “I wanted to create something that reminded people of the great British institution of Wimbledon.

“For many people the tournament isn’t just about watching the world class tennis, it’s about eating classic British food in the sunshine and experiencing the highs and lows of the competition with your friends and family.

“Our Wimbledon afternoon tea is a great way to experience everything that goes alongside the competition if you’re not able to make it to London to watch the tennis first hand.”

The special menu is available from Monday 3rd July to Sunday 16th July for £18.95 per person.

To book your place please call Matfen Hall on 01661 886500.
