Starting life in 1980, the Middlesbrough based business firmly established its roots in the oil and gas sector working with major companies, including Total, BP, Shell, OneSubsea and GE Oil & Gas.
Founded by Welding Engineer and current Managing Director, Charles Tighe, the company began its operations from a 600sqm unit in Riverside Park Industrial Estate, Middlesbrough. Having grown steadily, the firm now occupies nine adjacent workshops at the Riverside location, providing production space in excess of 4600sqm.
As the company enters into new sectors, it has ambitious plans to transfer its solid pedigree and reputation for delivering complex welding and fabrication services.
Speaking about QA Weld Tech’s diversification, MD Charles Tighe said: “Three years ago we put in place a strategy that has seen us invest heavily in facilities and personnel, developing our management team and systems, producing a more rounded company with a skill set that transfers readily across many industrial sectors. We have maintained a very strong position in the oil and gas market and continue to be awarded, and successfully deliver, several major contracts to this sector. On the back of these, now is the absolute right time to use these contract wins as a springboard into new markets, where we know, like the oil and gas sector, we can lead the market with our engineering services.”
