Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Let’s make mental health an everyday subject

Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind, Middlesbrough Football Club and Cleveland Police are inviting people to an exclusive screening of a film about mental health.

To mark World Mental Health Day, the screening of Thinking Out Loud will be held on 10 October, at 5.30pm, at The Arc, Dovecot Street, Stockton.

Bethany Dean, Communications Officer at Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind, said: “Our awareness video was created by some of our volunteers and Tees Valley Arts.

“It shows that anyone can struggle with their mental health at some point, even footballers and police officers.

“Our volunteers actively campaign to challenge the misconceptions of mental illness and want people to understand that we can all struggle at some point”.

The video features Cleveland Police officers who open up about their issues.

Phil Spencer, Cleveland Police Inspector, said: “I wanted to be part of this film to show people that behind the uniform, we are also human beings. We can all have mental health problems and although we are seen as strong people, sometimes we need help and support.

“I want our staff and the public that we help to know that sometimes it is okay, not to be okay”.

The short film will be promoted throughout World Mental Health Day across social media with the support of Middlesbrough Football Club.

Grant Leadbitter, Middlesbrough Football Club captain, said: “It is important to us all at the club to show our support for World Mental Health Day and for the good work that Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind do.

“It is important we help to try and create awareness around such a very important issue.”

Thinking Out Loud will be screened at Teesside’s largest mental health and wellbeing event, Alright Teesside, on Tuesday 10 October at 5.30pm.
