Local Author Ross Welford follows up triumphant children’s debut with new novel based in Whitley

Ross Welford, born and bred in Cullercoat has penned his second children’s novel based in the North-East, drawing once again on his local roots. 

Ross’s first novel TIME TRAVELLING WITH A HAMSTER has had a stellar year enjoying rave reviews and being shortlisted for a host of awards including the Costa Book Award and the Blue Peter Book Award. In the book, Ross bases young Al’s time travelling exploits in the fictional town of in Culvercot, based on Cullercoat.

Following hot on the heels of this success comes WHAT NOT TO DO IF YOU TURN INVISIBLE. Published later this month, this beautiful and funny novel follows 13 year-old Ethel, who in advertently turns herself invisible, with the action this time set in Whitley Bay.

Ross Welford was a journalist and television producer before becoming a full-time writer and now lives in London with his wife and children.  However, Ross is back in the North-East regularly, visiting his 91 year-old Mum (who still lives in the street Ross grew up in) and his 94 year-old Aunt who has lived in the same house in Tynemouth for 91 years.
