Loftus optician donates prize money to Mayor’s Charity Fund

CaptureTHE MAYOR of Redcar and Cleveland, Cllr Brenda Forster has thanked a local optician for donating £1,000 award money to the Mayor’s charity fund.

John Prouse, owner of Loftus Optical, has recently been recognised by the Optical Success Academy as the Best Opticians Practice 2015 in the UK.

Loftus Optical won the esteemed award which saw the business succeed over competition from all over the UK.

Mr Prouse has donated his award money to the Mayor’s charity fund, which will see the charities, the Great North Air Ambulance and the Cystinosis Foundation UK, benefit.

Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, Cllr Brenda Forster said:

“I was delighted when I heard the news that one of the borough’s opticians was awarded as the best in the UK.

“I would like to thank Mr Prouse for his donation, and I wish him all the success for the future.”

Mr John Prouse, Optician from Loftus Optical said:

“I started the business from scratch only four years ago by converting an old carpet shop into an Opticians practice that now has nearly 4,000 patients that return year after year due to a unique service.

“Hopefully, this can inspire other local small businesses in the area, or even inspire people who are thinking about setting up a business.”
