North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Making it easier to explore Ryedale’s Market Towns this Easter!

Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 15.38.25Ryedale District Council is promoting a transferrable Pay And Display car park ticket to encourage visitors to make the most of their day out in Ryedale.

Residents and visitors to Ryedale now have the opportunity to purchase a parking ticket in any long stay pay and display car park, which is then transferrable between all long stay car parks in the district. The ticket needs to be displayed as usual in the vehicle window.

The project is part of a range of initiatives to promote Ryedale’s Market Towns (Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside, Malton, Norton and Pickering) to visitors, encouraging longer stays and greater spend in local shops and services around the District. The aim of the ticket – costing only £5.80 if you want to stay for the entire day – is to encourage visitors to travel around the district and visit the five market towns, to sample their special qualities, attractions and events.

“There is so much on offer in each of the Market Towns” said Councillor Will Oxley, District Council member for the Ryedale Tourism Advisory Board.

“This ticket will provide extra value and improve ease of use for both local people and visitors that want to have a great day out. A morning at a food event in Malton, then moving onto an afternoon browsing for antiques in Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside or Pickering, for example.”

In 2014 an estimated 4,500,000 day trips were made to Ryedale, which boosted spend in the economy by over £143,000,000.

Information about the tickets will be displayed at the ticket machines and promoted by the Visit Ryedale team and holiday accommodation businesses throughout Ryedale to their visitors. Long stay car parks are located in Cleveland Way, Helmsley; Town Farm, Kirkbymoorside; Water Lane and Wentworth Street in Malton; Eastgate and Vivis Lane in Pickering. Further information is available on the Council website.
