Bristol Flyers have announced the return of Panos Mayindombe ahead of the 2018-19 season.
The 30-year-old Greek guard returns for his third season in the BBL, following a one-year spell with the Durham Wildcats in 2014, where he averaged 7.9 points per game.
Last season, Mayindombe made 24 appearances for the Flyers, before an ankle injury cut his season short.
Following his return to fitness, Mayindombe recently competed in world streetball tournament ‘Quai 54’ held in Paris France.
“I’m so happy to back in Bristol,” Mayindombe told Bristol Flyers TV.
“The people around the club are amazing and I really feel at home here in Bristol – having a Greek coach in Andreas has helped me feel a lot more comfortable.
“To be honest, I don’t really know what to expect this season because the league keeps on getting better and better.
“There are better players coming in each and every year, it’s a lot more physical and a lot quicker than before.
“I can’t wait to step on the court again. It’s been a long time for me coming back from injury. I want to be better this year and I want to prove myself on both ends of the court.”
“Panos is one of the most hard-working players that we have ever had in our programme,” added head coach Andreas Kapoulas.
“He brings the energy every day and it’s a real pleasure to see him back in action this season.
“He was frustrated with the way last season finished for him, however he was still there for the team helping in any way possible.
“Last season he was returning to basketball after a year out. This time around he is ready to go and his role will be more enhanced, contributing on both ends of the court.”
Mayindombe becomes the sixth player to commit to Bristol Flyers for the 2018-19 season, joining Daniel Edozie, Tevin Falzon, Justin Gray, Fred Thomas and Marcus Delpeche.
