Mobile Mini driving forward with key appointment

Mobile Mini, a leading hirer of portable site accommodation and secure storage containers, with its UK head office in Stockton-On-Tees, has appointed a national transport manager to help drive the company’s transport operations forward.

Kevin Buckler has joined the company, which has 16 branches throughout the country including one in Middlesbrough and Sunderland, as part of its Health and Safety team and is keen to use his 25 years of experience to build on best practice and safety measures already established within Mobile Mini.

Since leaving university in 1991, Kevin has worked in transport and logistics at some of the industry’s biggest companies. Previous roles include national transport manager at Hewden, transport compliance manager at Travis Perkins and regional transport operations manager at Jewson.

Speaking about his recent appointment, he said: “I’m thrilled to be working for Mobile Mini and I am looking forward to making a difference by helping to improve efficiency, customer experience and deliver cost savings.

“I’m hoping to standardise processes and procedures through information, instruction, training and supervision, as well as carry out coaching and mentoring of key branch staff, all with the aim of taking the company to the next level.”

As Mobile Mini’s national transport manager, Kevin will be tasked with looking after its Scania fleet of 50 lorry mounted loader crane vehicles, which is one of the largest of its kind in the UK. With a strong focus on driver safety and driver welfare, he will ensure all vehicles and drivers are safe and legal, other road users are safe around Mobile Mini vehicles, operator license undertakings are met and relevant staff are adequately informed and trained.

Holding an array of valuable industry specific qualifications, Kevin was the obvious person to be appointed the role at a company where safety is its highest priority, with his presence certain to make a significant impact.

“We’re delighted to have Kevin on board,” said Managing Director Chris Morgan.

“He brings years of experience and knowledge from previous roles and his learnings can be applied to this role and bring improved efficiencies to Mobile Mini.

“He also has extensive knowledge and understanding of transport legislation and with safety being at the forefront of everything we do here, by creating this role we are showing how seriously we take our responsibilities as a fleet operator.”

Kevin’s appointment is a timely one, as Mobile Mini recently achieved a gold award for the fourth consecutive year for its fleet of HGV delivery vehicles in the 2016 Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), an initiative operated by Transport for London. The voluntary accreditation scheme, which aims to drive up standards among commercial vehicle operators throughout the UK, requires fleet operators to demonstrate meaningful improvements in safety, environmental impact and efficiency in order to be awarded the highest accolade gold level.
