North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

From Monday 2 July 2018, women keen to get on the move during and after pregnancy can now enjoy all ante and post-natal classes as part of a Get Hartlepool membership.

For one monthly fee, pregnant and new mums are able to enjoy unlimited pre and post-natal classes to support them through their pregnancy and beyond as well as full use of the swimming and fitness suite facilities.

Expectant mothers (14 weeks onwards) can come along to any of the town’s sports centres to enjoy calming pre-natal Pilates and Aquanatal classes, where instructors help women learn to listen to their bodies, adapt the movements as their pregnancies progress and gradually strengthen their muscles in preparation for birth.

Those who have given birth and are ready to ease back into gentle exercise (following doctor’s advice) can try the Buggy Fitness classes, designed to help mums and babies bond through fun, gentle activity, whilst giving them the opportunity to meet and socialise with others.

Staying active during pregnancy can have long-lasting benefits for mother and baby, with current guidelines recommending women aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity every week.

Members can still have the option of paying per class. Prices are £4.95 for non-members, £3.90 for Active card members or £2.60 concession.
