Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

National Careers Service to host regional events to mark Apprenticeship Week

18962In celebration of Apprenticeship Week, the National Careers Service in the North East is helping host a number of careers workshops across the region.

Being held the week commencing March 14, they will:

·         Highlight what apprenticeships involve and how to choose the right one for you.

·         Provide expert advice on using apprenticeships vacancy website to search and apply for opportunities.

·         Outline tips on completing application forms and how to ‘sell’ your skills successfully to employers.

·         Showcase which employers are recruiting apprentices.

The main event will take place at Durham Town Hall on March 14, where those seeking an apprenticeship are invited to attend between 10am and 2pm. A number of North East employers will be on hand to speak to potential apprentices.  This is a drop-in event and people do not have to register in advance.

Business administration, hairdressing, digital marketing, engineering and hospitality are just some of the apprenticeships  that will be showcased at the briefing.

Carly Hinds, Partnership Manager for the National Careers Service in the North East, said: “We are delighted to be able to host so many workshops and events during Apprenticeship Week. It is fantastic to see that so many employers across the region, such as Esh Construction, Hydram Engineering, and BL Hairdressing, will be attending our Durham event to speak to young people about the opportunities they can offer.

“Apprenticeships are available across such a vast number of careers paths and the aim is to raise awareness of this. We hope to encourage individuals in the North East to consider an apprenticeship as a way of embarking on a fulfilling career.”

Further apprenticeship workshops will be held throughout the region, helping people to understand the value of apprenticeships and what types of careers they offer. The briefings will also give advice on the application process and which employers currently are recruiting apprentices.
