National HR Award for Local Charity

St Cuthbert’s Hospice, Durham, has been honoured with a national award at the prestigious Charity Times Awards held in London on 28th September 2016. The Awards honour charities in 30 diverse categories, with well over 100 different national and international charities shortlisted. St Cuthbert’s was recognised for the achievements of the Human Resources team with the Judge’s making particular note of the Hospice’s investment in management development and clear internal communications.

Paul Marriott, Chief Executive Officer at St Cuthbert’s Hospice, said: “Our Human Resources department play a vital role in the continued growth and success of the Hospice. They provide excellent support to our staff encouraging personal and professional development so that they can continue to help us excel in the services we provide. They also ensure that the Hospice recruits the best people to our growing team…”

Karen Grigg, Head of Human Resources at St Cuthbert’s Hospice, said: “We were thrilled to be nominated for this award and to actually win was a great surprise. Although we credit ourselves in delivering a first class service to our staff and volunteers, we are always looking for opportunities to improve. We couldn’t do what we do without everyone’s support, all credit to the staff at St Cuthbert’s Hospice!”

The Hospice is currently looking to recruit additional volunteers in many varied roles to help continue to make a difference to those living with life-limiting illnesses in County Durham.
