National retailer opens in Stockton town centre

STOCKTON Town Centre welcomed another national chain this weekend.

On Saturday (26 November), ‘That’s Entertainment’ officially opened in the Castlegate Centre.

Santa Claus and Store Manager, Martin Hughes, cut the ribbon at the shop which is the 30th ‘That’s Entertainment’ store to open in the country.

Located next door to Wilko, it takes the Castlegate Centre’s occupancy up to 95 per cent.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, Councillor Nigel Cooke, said: “It is fantastic that another national chain has chosen to open in Stockton Town Centre.

“That’s Entertainment will complement our existing big brand names as well as our growing number of high quality independent traders.

“What better time to come to Stockton than in the busy run-up to Christmas?  With so much to see and do in the town there will be plenty of shoppers about looking for perfect Christmas gifts.”

The store, which is part of the musicMagpie group, employs ten full and part-time staff, selling music, film, games, books and electronics, both new, and as part of their extensive refurbished Replay range, with an emphasis on price.

Head of Retail for ‘That’s Entertainment’, Craig Dawson, said: “We are delighted to open our new store in Stockton.  We have a long history in the North East, and are delighted to have finally found the right unit for us in the town, as part of the busy Castlegate Centre.  We hope the local customers enjoy our huge range of stock, great prices, and particularly, the excellent customer service that we are so proud of.”

Acting Castlegate Centre Manager, Tracey Surtees, said: “We are really pleased that ‘That’s Entertainment’ is opening up here at Castlegate Shopping Centre. It is another great offer for our shoppers and further widens the diversity of shops in both the centre and in the town. We would like to wish them great success for the future.”

‘That’s Entertainment’ is the latest business to benefit from the Stockton Town Centre Local Business Rates Discount Scheme having occupied a previously vacant unit.

Business Rate discounts of 50% for up to two years are available to businesses that occupy and trade from a vacant unit within Stockton Town Centre.
